Carly in Action

Hi everyone-

I’ve been taking it easy for a while since I was diagnosed with early stages of heart disease. One day I was so out of breath I  couldn’t finish my morning walk. I went to the vet a few hours later where they took my blood and an X-Ray of my chest.  My vet said we caught it early and that other dogs have lived for years on medication.  After that vet visit I had to take it easy for a while and adjust to my medication. Once my medication kicked in I felt great! I lost some weight and my energy levels are getting back to where they were a few years ago, when I was 12! It’s been a couple weeks and I had a check up at the vet today to make sure my medications are working well. So far so good!  I’m not allowed to run up hills anymore, but I can still hike the flats. I was such a good dog at the vet I was rewarded with a hike at my favorite park (Las Trampas)! There are so many smells there, sometimes I can’t decide which direction I want to go. I like to mosey around and make sure I get to each one of them! Here are some of my best action shots of the day.

Carly the Huntress

I discovered that Carly is quite the gopher hunter.  She’s gets very stealth, with purposeful movements when knows a gopher’s around. She’s very patient as she waits for it to pop out of  the ground. She’s not above digging it out if it takes too long…. or if she knows it’s time to move on with our walk!

Wine Tasting in Napa

Carly took her first trip wine tasting in Napa with her cousins from Pittsburgh, PA. We went to St. Supery, where she got a treat and bandana, followed by a trip to Peju where she decided to purchase a couple of bottles of wine. Then it was off to Beringer’s to take in the sites around the winery and off for some grub at Hurleys in Yountville where she got her own water bowl and a treat. Like most Napa visitor’s she was pooped by all the activity  of the day and slept all the way home! Carly Napa St. Sup Carly Napa Peju Bag Carly Napa Leaf 1 Carly Napa Flowers Carly Napa home

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to Carly! She recently turned 13 years young! She still plays and runs around like a puppy. We recently took a trip to Idyllwild, CA where she hiked all around the base of the Devil’s Slide trail and did a little rock climbing along the way.

Carly in Carmel

I adopted Carly from a rescue and it wasn’t quite clear what her story was. I was told she didn’t need a bed or toys, because she’s not interested in those things. We live in the bay area and take intermittent trips to Carmel, which is a very doggie friendly town. I think it’s pretty clear by her pictures that she’s adapting well to her life of luxury. She enjoys all of her new beds and toys too!

Carly

Hello! This is Carly’s new blog. Carly is an 11 year old tripawd Beagle. I adopted her at 10 years from a Beagle rescue. Her front paw was very deformed (not sure if it was birth defect or wound that didn’t heal) and they decided to amputate. Even when she had four legs it was clear that she couldn’t use the twisted leg, so she’s been on three legs for quite some time. It doesn’t stop her. She’s strong and fast! I look forward to sharing some adventures here!
